 FREE COUCH TO 5K TRAINING!​


Free training with professional trainers for the 5k race is available on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. starting July 18th.

All training participants will meet at the green area at Madison and Whetsel in Madisonville. 
Those who attend at least half of the classes will receive free entry to the Madisonville 5k on September 8! Plus you will get a free tee shirt!

Meet the Madisonville 5k Training Coaches

Kyle Sliney


Kyle lives in Madisonville with his wife, Melissa. The Madisonville 5K was the first community event they participated in just a few weeks after moving into the neighborhood, in 2016! Kyle has been running since middle school when he started doing cross country and track. He has run every distance from the 5K to the Marathon and has been a coach for a Couch to 5K training group. He is a digital designer at UC and has a graphic design and photography business with Melissa.

Kyle Jepson


Kyle Jepson is a Spanish teacher at Bishop Fenwick High School. Raised as a runner, he has been running 5K races for almost 30 years. Kyle spent eight years as a Cross Country and Track & Field coach at McNicholas High School. In the past, he has run the Columbus marathon, and trained for a November 2017 marathon. Kyle is a Madeira resident and is excited to work with in the Madisonville community.

Melissa Sliney


​​Melissa Sliney lives in Madisonville with her husband Kyle. She has enjoyed running for exercise and stress management since college, and ran track and cross country in her formative years. She has run one full Flying Pig Marathon, 5 Flying Pig half marathons and multiple 10K and 5K races, including the Madisonville 5K. In addition to running, she does low impact cardio and weight training and is also a freelance photographer. In the photo she is the one in the red coat fist-bumping Arnold Schwarzenegger at the start of the Arnold 5K Pump & Run in Columbus in 2017!

Melissa Salamon

Melissa Salamon moved to Madisonville in 2016 with her husband, Victor, and dog, Nile. She is an attorney at the Legal Aid Society where she represents low income families in civil legal matters. Melissa runs with the Queen City Running Club, and has run half and full marathons (including Boston 2014), and many other shorter races. She has coached with Girls on the Run in Cincinnati and Columbus. Prior to law school Melissa served in the Peace Corps working with teens and women on life skills, healthy living and exercise classes. Melissa is looking forward to getting to know and train with other Madisonville residents.
